Montgomery County, Arkansas History and Biographical Sketches

Originally published by Goodspeed Publishing in 1889, this reprint contains memoirs and biographies of Montgomery County pioneers. Montgomery County, Arkansas, located in the mid-western portion of the county, was created on December 9, 1842 and named for Richard Montgomery, a Revolutionary War Soldier. This is a history of the county from the creation up to about the mid-1880s when it was written. Because the information was compiled by the referenced family, it should be very accurate and detailed. A short history of the county is included, followed by the biographies.

JESSE IRBY, a farmer of Caddo Township, Montgomery County, Ark., was born in Madison County, Ala., in 1840 to Dudley G. and Elizabeth (Vaughn) Irby, the former born in Virginia in 1809, and the latter in Kentucky in 1823, their marriage occurring on Blue-Grass soil. etc...etc...
