John W. Locke, merchant, Lockesburg, Ark. Mr. Locke is one of the leading merchants and prominent citizens of Lockesburg. He began business in 1880 with his brothers, George and F. A. Locke, with a stock of goods invoicing $3,000 and continued the same until 1883. George C. then retired from the business, at which time they carried a stock of goods valued at $4,000. ...etc...

D.C. Ladd, Jr., is a native born resident of Sevier County, Ark., his birth occurring February 26, 1860, and he has always devoted his attention to farming, his first knowledge of this business being obtained on his father's farm. He was the eldest of eight children - six sons and two daughters - born to D.C. and Hermyan (Taylor) Ladd, both natives of this State ....
