The county of Freestone, Texas was created in 1850 out of the lands of Limestone County. These marriage records are not the oldest, but then, the older ones may not exist at this time or in another form. They are a record of importance since they span the time frame of the Civil War in scope. They give records for a long time period. The volume consists of two alphabetical listings, one for the grooms and the other for the brides. Each of the listings give the date the license was issued, and the names of the grooms and bride. The name of the official is not present, but a fuller record of the marriage could be obtained from the Court House at Fairfield, Texas.
