1833 Citizens of Morgan County, Ilinois

$750

This is a documented report to Congress of the Proceedings of a meeting of inhabitants of Morgan County [Illinois] asking a restoration of the Deposites to the United States Bank.

The citizens called the attention of Congress to the present deranged state of the currency; to all the ills consequent thereupon, not passing by the pressure already experienced in the "far West" and respectfully solicit relief, and suggest the restoration of the deposites and the recharter of the United States Bank, with modification, as the means most likely to restore confidence; again to call into action the energies of a free people, and secure the prosperity, the happiness, and liberty of the republic.
