Perry County, located in the southeastern side of the state on the Mississippi River, was created 16 November 1820 and was named for Oliver Hazard Perry, a naval hero of the War of 1812. The historical portion of this book includes the events in its history up to the time of the publication in the mid-1880s. The biographical sketches of the families were submitted by the families themselves.
