Lauderdale County, a portion of west Tennessee, was created on November 24, 1835 from parts of Dyer, Tipton and Haywood Counties, and was named in honor of and to perpetuate the memory of Colonel James Lauderdale, who fell at the battle of New Orleans on the night of December 23, 1814. The record contains the names of the bride/groom and the date solemnized as well as the official.
