Dayton, Tennessee Newspapers. Volume 9, 1930

The incomplete run of 1930 issues of The Dayton Herald are abstracted in this volume of the Rhea County newspapers. There are some advertisements, obituaries, lengthy history of Rhea County by James T. Crawford and some biographical sketches.

Example from this volume: “About 1832 the little side wheel steamboat, “Atlas” came around from the Ohio river, wriggled her way up through Muscles Shoals, thence on up the untried river to Knoxville to capture a $1,000 reward offered by the business men of Knoxville to the first steamboat that would visit that town. ..etc..”
