1840 Cocke County, Tennessee Census

$12.50

Cocke County, Tennessee was created on 9 October 1797 and named in honor of William Cocke, one of the two first Senators from Tennessee, William Blount being the other one. In the 1840 Census, only the name of the head of the household is given with those living in the house by age and sex in groups. One of the more valuable portions of this census is the enumeration of those with pensions from the American Revolution and the War of 1812 being shown by name with their age in a separate column on page two of the census. This item is frequently overlooked by the casual reader of the census.
