Humphreys County is located in middle Tennessee on the Tennessee River and was created on 19 October 1809 out of part of Stewart County. It was named in honor of Perry W. Humphreys, a judge of the Superior Court of Law and Equitey, 1807-1809 and who held the first court in this county. These abstracts of the first four deed books give all of the vital information necessary for correct identification. Only the calls are left out of this abstract. For the full description of the boundaries, you have to go to the original deeds.
