Hickman County, Tennessee Bible and Tombstone Records

$10.00

Hickman County, located in the middle of Middle Tennessee, was created in 1807 from Dickson County. It was named for Edwin Hickman, a pioneer settler and explorer who was killed by Indians in the area in 1791. These Bible and Tombstone records were collected during the 1930s by the WPA Workers who worked under the direction of the New Deal program designed to help bring the United States out of the Great Depression. This file is one that Mountain Press purchased from the estate of the State Supervisor of the WPA program. Much of it was in the original handwritten form and a few pages had been typed. We have combined those typed pages with a typed copy of the handwritten ones.
