Hickman County, Tennessee Bible, Family and Tombstone Records

$21.00

Hickman County, located in the western portion of middle Tennessee was created on 3 December 1807 and was named for Edwin Hickman, one of the long hunters who came to Tennessee very early before statehood. Edwin was killed by the Indians near the located of the present county seat of Centerville. In this volume, you will find a number of files gathered by the WPA workers in the late 1930s from people in the county at that time. The Bible records show what was written in the old family Bibles and the family records are records kept by various families in the area and include a large variety of materials from letters, stories and other items of interest to that family. The Tombstone file contained the records of many of the old cemeteries at the time. In past experience, many of these are records that have been lost to modern expansion of our modern society.
