Following the War of 1812 General Andrew Jackson was commissioned to go into the south Georgia and Florida territory to recover many of the Native Americans that escaped from the plantations across the south and joined up with the Seminole Indians of Florida. The story of this conflict was told and retold through newspapers all across the south at the time. The enclosed articles are found in the Knoxville Register of 1818. This newspaper picked up articles from various other newspapers, private correspondence of the leaders and government documents that pertained to this war. These reprinted articles and other information are presented here in the exact order as they came into the Knoxville Register from various sources. We have not altered the spelling or information but retained their report as given.
