Hickman County, Tennessee Guardian and Administrative Settlements, 1844-1846

$15.00

Hickman County, located in middle Tennessee was established in 1807 and named for Edwin Hickman, an explorer and surveyor killed by Indians at Defeated Creek in 1791. This name was suggested by Robert Weakley, a legislator who had been a member of the Hickman survey party. The records are those dealing with the orphans within the county at the time period. Many of the records name the father and/or mother of the children and many times other children involved. The guardians are listed with the assets of the orphans. These are great records when there is an orphan in the family.
