Van Buren County, Tennessee County Court Records, 1840

$650

Van Buren County in middle Tennessee on the Cumberland Plateau was created in 1840 out of White, Warren and Bledsoe Counties. It was named for President Martin Van Buren. These county court records for 1840 are the first actions taken by the court. There are a number of different types of records in this volume. The county court would handle deed transfer, road orders, changes in the boundaries of the various sections, set taxes, school districts, etc. All of these actions create a name base useful in genealogical research.
