This 1840 census of Pendleton County, Virginia [now West Virginia] was professionally abstracted from a microfilm reel of the official census of Virginia. An excellent record of Heads of Households, many additional features are included: Widows are Noted, Titles Are Noted [Rev., etc.], Pensioners are identified [Example: William Eagle, Age 79, Pensioner], Identification of those with identical first and last names [more than Jr. or Sr ... gives relationship-Example: Son of ... ]. By placing names and figures into the chart included in the back of the manuscript, you can quickly find the ages of each of the children and/or those living in the household. Since original page numbers are noted, you can easily compare the microfilm record with the original.
