This transcription of the 1840 Montgomery County, Virginia is an updated version over the older one found in 101E-VA0014 Early Settlers of Montgomery County. This version of the transcription includes the items found on page B of the census or the second page of the 1840 census. Found on this page are the occupations, personal items like blindness, deafness, etc as well as the column for the pensioners of the War of 1812 and the American Revolution. In most cases, the teachers with the figures for their schools are given with the number of scholars that are self paying and those at public claim. Most of this page is for historic information and not so much genealogical.
