York County, Virginia Records

$7.50

The county of York was formed in 1634 and originally called Charles River Shire for King Charles I, one of the eight original shires of Virginia. It was renamed in 1642-43 as York County. The river, county, and town are believed to have been named for York, a city in Northern England. In this volume, there is a listing of the tithables for 1763 for the York-Hampton Parish and the marriages for 1772-1792.
