The War between the States is a turning point in American history. At its end many military men returned to civilian life and began the task of earning a living. The City of Alexandria, Virginia, with its relative economic prosperity, attracted many former war veterans. While they labored their veteran organizations flourished as they honored past events in which they had played a major role.
Through meticulous research the author had identified the final resting place of these veterans buried in the various cemeteries throughout the city, and the units in which they served during the war. Military history and obituaries are all included in the book. The text is interspersed with over one hundred pictures of veterans plus many photographs of their tombstones from the author's personal collection which greatly enhance the volume.
