This History is an attempt to analyze how attention was re-focused on the country's history by an interested group of gentlemen, businessmen and historians in New York City, and how they were able to relay their interest and enthusiasm from that nucleus to all parts of the United States. In an effort to provide the background of the activities of the Sons of the Revolution, resumes of the concurrent events in our history are provided throughout this book. The success of this approach must be left to the readers. They are, however, cautioned that this study is not meant for a text-book, but rather, as it were, a family history.
