Camden County, Georgia Superior Court Minutes, 1797-1809

Camden County was one the original 7 counties of Georgia. It was created in 1777 and is located in southeastern corner of the state bordering the Atlantic Ocean. The Superior Courts kept records of divorce, civil and criminal cases, naturalization, military discharges, homesteads, grand juries, registration of land deeds and prisons. Occasionally, superior courts (as well as inferior courts), kept records pertaining to slaves. Depending on the case, both jurisdictions should be checked for information about slaves and their owners.
