Davidson County was formed in 1783 from Washington County, North Carolina. When North Carolina ceded its western lands to Congress, Davidson became part of the Territory South of the Ohio, then it became part of Tennessee. This book contains abstracts of 2,564 various warrants, surveys and grants issued by North Carolina for land in Davidson County, Tennessee. There grants were issued for several different reason, such as: Military Bounty Warrants, Service rights of Survivors, preemption warrants or for settlers heading west, and etc.
