Westmoreland County, Virginia was created from Northumberland county in 1653. This is the parent county of Stafford, Prince William, King George, and Fauquier. Many of Westmoreland's early records are missing, especially the marriages which do not start until 1772. Wills are a wonderful source for the researcher due to the number of family members who are mentioned.
