Madison County, Arkansas History and Biographical Sketches
Madison County, located in the northwestern portion of the state, was created in 1836. The historical portion of this volume covers the time period from the creation of the county up to the mid-1880s when the original material was printed by Goodspeed Publishing. The biographical material was submitted by the families themselves, therefore, this should be more accurate than other sources.
“Harvey C. Ledbetter is a native of Tennessee, and was born April 19, 1816. His father, George Ledbetter, was born in Georgia, and his mother, Susannah (Chesser) Ledbetter, was born in Virginia. In an early day they moved to Tennessee, and there married and lived until 1849, the father engaging in carpentering and farming.....”
