Tennessee: Sequatchie County

Sequatchie County, located on the western edge of east Tennessee in Sequatchie Valley and on both the Cumberland Plateau and Walden’s Ridge was created in 1853 out of Bledsoe and Marion County, but taken away from Hamilton County due to political differences. Both Bledsoe and Marion gave the lands that became Sequatchie to Hamilton for a brief time as they neither want to be accused of giving up land for a new county.
