Tennessee: Wilson County

Wilson County, located in the upper portion of middle Tennessee, is one of the older counties in this section of the state being created in 1799 by the Tennessee Legislature. It is generally agreed by historical critics that Wilson County was named in honor of David Wilson who served with distinction in the Revolutionary War, was a member of the Territorial Assembly and Speaker of the House of Representatives in 1794.
